2 להקות מטאל שרדו בהוריקן "קטרינה
על פי דיווחים בעיתונות המקומית, סולן\גיטריסט להקת הת'ראש-הארדקור מטאל האמריקנית Corrosion Of Conformity, פפר קיינאן, הצליח להימלט מהוריקן "קתרינה". קיינאן ישב בביתו כשההוריקן הכה והספיק לקחת את כלבו, הגיטרה שלו ואת חברתו (לאו דווקא בסדר הזה) ועזב את ביתו שטבע עם שאר העיר. "לא נשאר לי כלום חוץ מקצת מזומן בכיס" אמר לאחר האסון.
כמו כן, להקת Superjoint Ritual אשר ממקומת בניו-אורלינס, גם כן ניצלה מההוריקן. בהודעה שמסרה Maria Ferrero, אשת יחסי הציבור של הלהקה נאמר: "Superjoint Ritual הצליחו לצאת מניו-אורלינס בביטחה לפני ההרס של הוריקן קתרינה. הלהקה מוסרת איחולים למשפחה, לחברים ולאזרחים של ניו-אורלינס שנאבדו בעקבות הרס ההוריקן."

DISSECTION - New Album To Be Completed This Month
"DISSECTION have since the 2nd of February been busy recording their third studio album, the first one in ten years since 1995's classic album, Storm Of The Light's Bane! The recording is taking place at Black Syndicate Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, with Emil Nödtveidt (aka Nightmare Industries) and Skinny Kangur behind the wheels. Eleven songs are being recorded for the album which by the band is regarded as a work of Sonic Black Magic. The recordings will be finished by the end of September."

IRON MAIDEN: New 'Live In The Studio' Recordings To Air On BBC Next
IRON MAIDEN have recorded "live-in-the-studio" renditions of the songs "Run to the Hills", "The Trooper" and "Hallowed be thy Name" at Maida Vale Studios in London on September 2 for broadcast during the BBC "Legends" show (web site) dedicated to MAIDEN. The program is scheduled to air on Tuesday, September 13 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.
As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN's double live album, "Death on the Road", entered the U.K. album chart at position No. 22. The album also landed at No. 6 in Finland and No. 27 in Ireland.
"Death on the Road" is a live album recorded in Dortmund, Germany during IRON MAIDEN's 2003 "Dance Of Death" world tour.

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUCKETHEAD Signs Solo Deal With SERJICAL STRIKE
Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Buckethead has inked a deal with SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian's Serjical Strike label for the October 25 release of his next album, "Enter the Chicken". Tankian produced the album and makes a guest appearance on the tracks "Waiting Here" and "We Are One".
According to an official press release, "What makes 'Enter the Chicken' unique among all other Buckethead albums is the contribution of different singers throughout the body of work. Both producer and guitarist recruited some of today’s brightest musical talents to lend their voice including Saul Williams, Efrem Schulz (DEATH BY STEREO), Maura Davis (DENALI, BELLA LEA), Azam Ali (VAS, NIYAZ), BAD ACID TRIP, Maximum Bob (DELI CREEPS), Gigi, Shana Halligan and Ani Maldjian. When all was said and done, a total of 11 different vocalists specializing in musical styles ranging from opera, metal, rap, indie rock, grindcore, world and everything in between found their way onto 'Enter The Chicken'."

DARK FUNERAL: Audio Samples From New Album Now Available
Swedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL have uploaded two tracks from their upcoming album, "Attera Totus Sanctus", at their official web site. Check out the songs "Godhate" (Windows Media) and "666 Voices Inside" (Windows Media).
As previously reported, "Attera Totus Sanctus" (view artwork by Morbid's Daniel Valeriani at this location) is scheduled for release in the U.S. on November 29 via Candlelight Records USA. The CD will be released in Europe on October 24 via Regain Records.
DARK FUNERAL's new album was recorded and mixed by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, IN FLAMES, BEHEMOTH) and Örjan Örnkloo (MISERY LOVES CO.) at Dug-Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden between May 23 and July 15, and August 8 and August 19, 2005. Mastering duties were handled by Tomas Eberger at the Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. The CD will feature a guest appearance by former MESHUGGAH bassist Gustaf Hielm.

DARK FUNERAL's live album, "De Profundis Clamavi ad te Domine", was released in the U.S. on May 31 via Candlelight USA/Regain Records. The CD was recorded during the band's successful 2003 tour of South America (including stops in Brazil, Chile and Colombia) and features a selection of material that spans the band's decade-long career.
DARK FUNERAL currently features vocalist/bassist Emperor Magnus Caligula, guitarist Lord Ahriman, guitarist Chaq Mol, and drummer Matte Modin.

RAMMSTEIN: New Album Gets A Release Date
According to a posting at Herzeleid.com, Universal Music has set an October 31 European release date for the new RAMMSTEIN album, "Rosenrot". An audio clip of the album's first single, "Benzin", has been posted online at Motor.de. The single will precede the album on October 10.
As previously reported, the band recorded several songs during the sessions for "Reise, Reise" which were omitted from the CD's final track listing. During a recent session at a Berlin studio, RAMMSTEIN recorded several more tracks and recently mixed the combined collection of new material for the "Rosenrot" album.
Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is the follow-up to "Mutter", which entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 77 back in April 2001.
