אודות הסדרה:
Need For Speed (הצורך במהירות) היא סדרת משחקי מירוצים פופולרית שמפותחת על ידי חברת Electronic Arts, ואשר יצאה למגוון פלטפורמות המשחק. המשחק מורכב בעיקר ממירוצים בין מכוניות יוקרה שונות לאורך מסלולים מגוונים ונופים עוצרי נשימה, כמו גם מרדפי משטרה. כמו כן, מאז המשחק Need For Speed Underground, המשחק מאפשר התאמה אישית של הרכב לתוך המירוצים.הסדרה פותחה במקור על ידי חברת Distinctive Software, סטודיו משחקי מחשב בונקובר, קנדה, שפיתח מספר משחקי מירוצים למחשב האישי כדוגמת Test Drive II: The Duel ו-Stunts, לפני שנקנה על ידי Electronic Arts בשנת 1991. לאחר רכישתם שונה שם החברה ל-Electronic Arts Canada.
