חלונות 95 בעברית.
מערכת Windows 95 הייתה גרסה יציבה יותר ומעוצבת טוב יותר, ורבים ממאפייניה נשארו גם בגרסאות הבאות של חלונות. לאחר מערכת 3.11, מיקרוסופט פיתחו מערכת הפעלה עם יותר הפניה ללקוח, בשם-קוד "שיקאגו". "שיקאגו" תוכננה לתמוך מראש בריבוי משימות 32-bit, למרות שליבת ה-16 ביט נשמרת כדי לתאום גרסות ישנות.

מערכת Windows Millennium Edition (קיצור מקובל ME) הייתה שדרוג נוסף של Windows 95/98. למערכת נוספו כלים לשחזור המערכת למקרה תקלה, אשפים חדשים ושיפורי ממשק המשתמש, בעיניי רבים מערכת זאת הייתה יציבה פחות מקודמתה. ME היא מערכת החלונות האחרונה של חברת מיקרוסופט שנבנתה על בסיס דוס. כפי שחלונות 9X הייתה מקבילה ל-NT 4 וחלונות 3.11 הייתה מקבילה ל-NT 3.11, כך חלונות ME מקבילה לחלונות 2000.
