VMware offers medium and large organizations a new approach to the construction of infrastructure, desktop users within the concept of virtual desktops (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, VDI). This solution , previously bore the name of VMware VDI, now called VMware View. However, this is not just a name change - it is completely finished concept of providing reliable, secure mobile and desktop infrastructure .


The essence of the concept is - desktop users are placed in virtual machines on VMware ESX platform running VMware vCenter ( formerly VirtualCenter). Infrastructure is part of the solution serves VMware Virtual Infrastructure. Organizational part of the same solution ( RMS- user connections , deploying virtual machines , etc.) assume the components of the product VMware View.

The package consists of three main components:

В В В VMware Horizon View - a comprehensive solution for desktop virtualization .
В В В VMware Horizon Mirage - product about which we wrote here . This solution allows you to create the image of the user's workstation , dividing it into layers ( system, applications , and user data and settings ) , and then centrally manage these images. That is, is the product for physical media ( and now it is not integrated with VMware View).
В В В VMware Horizon Workspace - a combination of two interesting products - Horizon Data ( formerly Project Octopus - solution a la corporate Dropbox, which we pisalivot lot here) , and Horizon Application Manager - solution for federation SaaS- applications and VDI- services.
