MemTurbo is a program that increases available RAM on your system. It also defragments your physical RAM, making your CPU and motherboard more efficient without modifying your virtual memory. It recovers memory leaks from applications and flushes unused libraries and DLLs temporarily out to disk, making more room for your favorite games or applications. You define the target level of available RAM, which MemTurbo then attempts to achieve. The program can also kick in automatically when the RAM level reaches a critical low, and features a RAM Scrub you can manually trigger to search for every bit of recoverable RAM, even beyond your target level. This new version features a smaller footprint, faster and more thorough memory recovery, and numerous other small improvements.
Memory-management utilities are controversial. In a nutshell, increasing the amount of available RAM doesn't necessarily mean improved performance, especially if the optimization takes over your system's CPU and hard drive. MemTurbo does a decent job of increasing the available amount of free RAM by way of a simple interface. However, it can bring even the fastest systems to a crawl, since it occupies nearly all the system memory as the optimization process tries to free it up. Some users may find lingering performance issues immediately after the optimization process as well. If you max out your system's resources every time you start up, you might want to give this utility a shot. Keep in mind, however, that buying more RAM is always going to be the best way to get more free memory.
