You can use MagicISO/WinISO to make CD/DVD image from DVD/CD-ROM to hard disk, then try to reinstall the game from the hard disk.
Some technical info :
Sometimes optical drives can't read the data
as fast as the magnetic drive writes it , so
there is a kind of a "race condition" between the devices.
