uicken 2008 is a small upgrade of Intuit's popular personal finance program. This well-built money manager is easy enough for novices yet powerful enough for veteran number crunchers, although it feels like a warmed-over version of last year's model with a few helpful enhancements. That said, the 2008 version is a bit better at managing savings and investments, categorizing expenses, and tracking 529 college savings contributions.

Setup and interface
Setup for Quicken 2008 is mostly unchanged from last year, and the process is largely automated and fast. Luckily, Intuit doesn't demand that you have a brand-new computer, as the application can run on Windows 2000 or more recent, and a recommended 256MB of RAM. Software installation took only 5 minutes in our tests on both Windows XP and Vista machines, and we successfully downloaded transactions from a major bank and a brokerage firm in about 10 minutes. Since Quicken's account registers automatically categorize your transactions, setup doesn't require a lot of manual labor. And tweaking is easy; to rename a transaction, for instance, select it and click the Edit button. Unfortunately, during installation Quicken rudely dumped four icons on our Windows XP desktop, including junk-mail pitches for credit report, credit card, and bill-pay services.

השיפורים העיקריים בגירסה האחרונה עובדים מאחורי הקלעים; ההגנה על הפרטיות שופרה, ה-Firewall יעיל יותר וישנם גם שיפורי ביצועים.
אפשרויות נוספות

אפשרות חביבה שגילינו בפנדה היא האפשרות לקבל התראה למחשב אחר ברשת או בדואר אלקטרוני על וירוס או איום אחר שנמצא. נוסף על כך, ה-firewall זיהה כאשר ניסינו להתחבר לרשת אלחוטית ממחשב נייד עליו הגן, וביקש מאתנו לאשר זאת.
לסיכום
בדומה לנורטון 2007, ה-Firewall של פנדה לא הציק לנו כלל – כדי לאשר גישה של תוכנות לאינטרנט. כנראה שמדובר בטרנד חדש, ומדובר בדבר מבורך –במיוחד עבור המשתמשים הקלים, שרוצים להתקין ולשכוח.
ה-firewall של פנדה מתבסס על התנהגות התוכנות. מי שמעוניין יכול לבקש מה-firewall לתת למשתמש לאשר כל תוכנה שרוצה גישה החוצה.
טכנולוגיה ה-TruPrevent של פנדה, אשר חוסמת תוכנות רשעות על פי התנהגות בלבד – עבדה בצורה טובה, והיא מהווה פתרון לבעיית התלות של האנטי וירוס בחתימות.

הבטתי ברשימת הדירוג של תוכנות הפיירוול ובאופן לא מפתיע את המקום הראשון תפסה זון-אלארם. עברתי להסתכל על המקום השני ופתאום אני רואה שם לא מוכר, קצת מוזר, אבל באופן די החלטי יושב לו במקום השני ולא רחוק מהמקום הראשון.

נא להכיר - Outpost firewall, תוכנת פיירוול איכותית ומוצלחת גם אם לא שמעתם עליה עד היום. התוכנה לא חדשה בשוק וגם לא החברה שמפתחת אותה ויחד עם זאת לפחות בתודעה שלנו היא לא יושבת מספיק חזק וכנראה שההפסד כולו שלנו.
קצת קשה לסקר את התוכנה כי היא מציעה מגוון רחב של אפשרויות אבל אנחנו ננסה לעבור לפחות על החלקים העיקריים והחשובים עבורנו:

למעשה בעזרת ההגדרות הנכונות תהפכו את עצמכם לבלתי נראים ברשת, מוגנים ושקטים בזמן שהתוכנה תהדוף עבורכם באנרים, מזיקים, האקרים, קוקיז, טרויאנים וכו'.
