No, you can't remove it unless you flash the phone.
You can remove the operator branding only by flashing.

Same as formatting your computer and installing a fresh OS.
Since your mobile phone has a flash memory instead of a hard drive, we flash it (unlike formatting). Both actions erase the memory.
After you erase the memory of your phone, you have to load a new firmware on it, generic unbranded one.
If you didn't understand a word, just take your phone to the nearest service centre and flash it there,
but you'll have to spend about 30$ on it.
