Il giocatore prende i panni di un John Connor che nonostante la mancanza della licenza per l'utilizzo delle fattezze di Christian Bale, protagonista del film, mantiene il ruolo di Leader della Resistenza, in un futuro prossimo in cui Skynet e quasi vincitrice del conflitto mondiale contro gli umani.
