----------------Introduction----------------
Meet Mario Bicheno, a Cuban immigrant who lives in Vice City, Florida, circa 2010. Until 1980, he and his family lived in Cuba. His father was a criminal who had angered too many people, and now every corrupt cop and drug lord wanted him and his family dead, forcing the Bichenos to hitch a ride on the Vice Boat Lift, a mass emigration of Cubans heading to Florida, and, for Mario, a horrific experience.
Once in Vice City, Mario's father soon began to gain notoriety, and moved his way up the crime ladder. He had always hoped of someday becoming a successful criminal mastermind. He wanted to rule the streets of Vice City. Soon enough, he was working for Al Lopez, a violent crime lord, and was making a name for himself. As Mario got older, he began to turn out like his father during his years in Cuba. He was a lowly criminal on the streets of Vice City, making money from random jobs. In 2002, when Mario was 35, he had witnessed his father being killed by a hit squad, sent out by Al Lopez, one of his father's bosses. Mario later finds a gun, a bullet-riddled picture of him and his family, and a note saying that Al was now going after him and his family. Mario's family, now afraid for their lives, moved out of Florida, but Mario chose to remain in Vice City, living under the radar for 8 years, until he sees a news report in 2010 saying that Al Lopez had been captured after being wanted by government officials for 15 years, sending him to prison and crippling his crime empire. Mario is pleased with this, and sees this as a chance to do what his father had wanted to do: Rule the streets of Vice.
----------------Story----------------
The game begins with a cutscene narrated by Mario. He tells us about his old life in Cuba, and how his family were forced to move, while seeing clips of the Vice Boat Lift. He then tells us his father's story in Vice City, how a hit squad was sent after them in 2002 by Al Lopez (with a cutscene showing Mario and his father in a car at a red light, and another car with armed men pulling up beside them), and how he had to live under the radar for 8 years (with a cutscene showing Al finding the gun, note, and picture). The narration stops, and we see Mario in his small, scummy apartment in 2010, watching the TV news. He turns the TV off, and prepares to go to bed (while holding a gun in his hand), when his friend, Rafael, calls him and tells him to watch the news on TV-MK. Mario turns the TV back on, and sees footage of Al Lopez in handcuffs being led away by federal agents. The reporter says that Al Lopez was wanted by the FIB and DEA in Cuba for 15 years, and that he was turned over by American officials after being wanted here for murder. Mario excitedly tells Rafael to get Umberto and meet him at the bar.
Once Mario reaches the bar, he is greeted by Rafael and Umberto, and they all sit down for a drink. Mario begins to tell them that now that Al Lopez is out of the way, the three of them can start business in Vice City and work their way up as crime lords. Mario tells them that he wants to have power and money in the city like his father always wanted. Rafael and Umberto joke about it, and tell him to "dream on." Mario snaps at them, and tells them how having power means a lot to him, and that he is not going to back down while Al is away. He tells the two that the drug trade in Vice City hasn't been as famous as it was in the 80s, but it's still going on. he tells the two to gather all the info they can on anything that might be going on.
He leaves, and later recieves a call from Rafael about a big drug deal going on in the Port of Vice City. He asks Mario what they'll be doing, and Mario tells him that they'll be stealing their shipment of drugs, and then selling it later for a bigger price tag. He tells Rafael get Umberto and meet at Oswardo Guns & Liquor to buy some guns, but they'll have to wait a few hours before getting some money. Mario now must decide to either mug people until we get $2000 (resulting in a wanted level that Mario must escape), or go to an internet cafe to hack into his mother's own bank account and take $2000 out of it (resulting in no positive responses from her throughout the game). Whichever he chooses will make the mission at the Oswardo Gun shop availible.
Once at the gun shop (and after being heartily greeted by the owner, Ramon Oswardo), Mario, Rafael, and Umberto pick out their weapons: a pistol, smg, AK-47, and a few flash grenades. The three leave the gun shop and head towards the port. Once they arrive at the dock, they all hide behind large shipping containers and crates.
They watch as more and more men arrive in trucks, waiting to get a glimpse of the drugs. They finally see forklifts guarded by armed men carrying white packages. "This is it guys," says Mario. "We're gonna toss two flash bangs into the middle, then you two begin firing at everyone. Make sure noone leaves this alive." Mario takes a deep breath, and tosses the first flash grenade, while Rafael throws the second. Then, they begin firing at everyone. A large shootout ensues, and soon, the men who were guarding the shipment were all dead.
"Okay, guys," says Mario. "Rafael, I want you to keep watch over the road. We don't want anyone to surprise us. Umberto, I want you to get the van, bring it to the ramp on the ship, and I'll get the forklift." Mario stacks piles upon piles of cocaine packages into the van. The van is soon filled, and Mario and the boys decide it's time to leave. Mario rides with Umberto in the van, and Rafael takes a car and follows.
Soon, the three begin to break up drug deals and steal the products from many more criminals and drug mules, and then sell the drugs to make their own money. Mario had made well over $300,000 from doing this, and still had more product. He also realized that people on the streets now knew who he was, and had some respect for him. He does many jobs for these people, and is handsomely rewarded and respected by many of these people, one of them being a billionaire from Cuba, Juan-Carlos Condela (whom becomes Mario's friend once he has no more work for Mario), and another being nightclub owner Ernesto Teofilo who gives Mario one of his clubs. One day, Mario recieves an anonymous phone call from a man calling himself Pablo. Pablo tells Mario that Henrique Gonzales, head of the Gonzales Crime Family, wants to see him at the mansion on Venice Island about important "business" matters, and if they could make a deal of some sort. Pablo assures Mario that Henrique is not upset with him, but soon after hangs up before Mario could ask any more questions.
Once at the front gate of the mansion, Mario tells the security officer that he is there to see Henrique Gonzalez, and that he was sent by a "Pablo." The security guard tells Mario to wait for a minute while he makes a call, and soon after opens the gate for him to enter. He is then greeted by three guards armed with combat pistols and cabrine rifes. One of these men pats down Mario, and waves a metal detector over him. He is then escorted to Henrique's office with all this highlighting the mans power and wealthiness.
Once in the main office, Mario and Hnerique discuss these "business" matters. Henrique says to Mario that he can make him rich if he were to work for the Gonzales Crime Family. Mario tells him that he doesn't want to be some lowly mule, he wants to be independent. Henrique then offers more money and tells Mario that it won't be any mule work he'll be doing, and that he can stop working for the Gonzales Family any time. Mario then asks what he will be doing if he chooses to work for the family. Henrique tells him that he will have him guarding deals and deal breakups, and will also have him get information from people about anything that will be going down. Then asks why it will be different from what he currently does. Henrique opens up a briefcase full of $100s and says to him that if he wants to really make it big, he will have to work for some people, but in the end, it will greatly pay off. Mario then decides that he will work for Henrique, but only for a short period of time.
After leaving, he calls up Rafael and Umberto and tells the two what they will all be doing. Umberto asks Mario, "Why are you working for someone else when you've always been going on about how you wanted to be your own drug lord?" Mario tells him that it will make them millions of dollars, and they will soon have enough experience and money to break off from the Gonzalez Family and do their own thing again, only now with power.
Mario begns to recieve random calls from "Pablo," who now reveals himself to be Henrique's assistant, Pablo Del Rossie. Pablo tells Mario about different missions and jobs Henrique wants him to do, and how much he will be earning. Mario does many of these jobs, and now earns about $1,000,000. Mario soon receives a call from a woman named Stacy, who says she is the daughter of Henrique. She tells Mario that she would like to meet up with him sometime, but only if he promises not to tell a word of this to her father. Mario agrees, but asks why. She tells him she has been quite lonely and bored in the mansion, and she wanted to get away from her father's rule of no men, despite the fact that she is 35. While meeting with Mario at a Bean Machine coffee shop, she tells him that her father can be a nasty and violent man if you get him pissed off, and that he can also kill without hesitation. Mario takes this into consideration while doing a few more missions for Henrique. Stacy then tells Mario that she had thought he was kind of handsome, and that if he'd like to go out again with sometime later, they could.
One day, Mario doesn't get any call from Pablo. He calls Pablo, only to find that Pablo's number doesn't exist anymore. He then calls Stacy, who answers the phone very worridly, saying "Oh thank god, you're still alive." She tells Mario that Henrique is upset with Mario, and wants to kill him. Mario assures her that he and his friends can kill off any hit squad her father sends in, but Stacy soon tells him that he isn't getting a hit put out on him, Henrique wants to kill Mario himself. Mario asks why, and Stacy begins to tell him, but is then heard screaming, and shouts "NO, DADDY, PLEASE, DON'T DO THIS!" The phone now goes out, and Mario mutters to himself, "That motherf*cker. What the hell did I do to him?" Mario then realizes that Stacy is in trouble, and is sickened at the fact that her own father is possibly doing something terrible to her. He later recieves a call from an angered Henrique, who tells Mario that he is a "theiving, backstabbing son of a bitch" who stole his money and daughter. Mario asks Henrique what he meant by "you stole my money." Henrique tells him "Don't give me that sh*t. The billion dollars I had stashed away in the Waterglades. You stole it all for yourself! You can thank Pablo for telling me this. Also, if you want to see your bitch alive again, see me at my mansion. I'll have some nice people waiting to greet you."
Mario now takes it upon himself to resuce Stacy, no matter what it takes, saying "She's a good girl who didn't deserve ANY of this. I'll kill that fat f*ck of a father of hers if I have to. And after that, I'm gonna find that f*cking Pablo and spray his brains across the Atlantic Ocean for doing this to us." He first calls up Ramon Oswardo, to ask if there is any heavy weaponary that he could use for a full-on assault. Ramon tells him that he just recently got a shipment of advanced rifles, and some explosive rounds for the automatic shotgun, and that both should easily take out anyone who gets in his way. Mario then calls up Rafael and Umberto, and tells them to meet at the Kapowitz gun shop so they could stock up on weapons and prepare for the mansion assault.
Once they are prepared, they begin their drive to the mansion. Mario notices that there are four helicopters (two Mavericks with armed sharpshooters, and two Annihilators with sharpshooters AND it's guns ready). "What, is this guy afraid of me?" asks Mario, who decides that they probably won't be able to take on all of the helicopters themselves, and decides to call his friend Juan-Carlos Condela for air support. Juan-Carlos Condela sends out four Buzzards to take on the four helicopters while "the three amigos" (as Juan likes to call them) battle the ground guys. Mario tells Juan to make sure his guys respond only when Rafael calls, as he wants this to be a surprise attack on the private army. He parks the car a block away from the mansion, and the three prepare their guns. Mario then gets out a rocket launcher and one rocket from the trunk, tells Rafael to call Juan for the helicopters, and takes aim for the mansion gate. He fires, which causes a major explosion, destroying the gates, guard booth, and a few guard Patriots, and killing many guards. The three then rush in, taking cover and killing Henrique's guards. Meanwhile, the Juan's men flying in gold Buzzards arrive, taking out the helicopters with missiles, and helping out the three on the ground with the chain gun.
Once all of the guards outside are killed, Mario heads in with Rafael and Umberto, killing the guards in the hallways. Once they have all been finished off and they reach the hallway leading to Henrique's office, Mario tells the two to stand guard at that spot while he heads in and takes care of Henrique himself. Mario runs through the hall, killing the guards that bust in through side doors, and finally reaches Henrique's office. He tries to open it, but then realizes it's locked. He now kicks the door down, with his gun drawn. Henrique comes out from under his desk, holding a gun to his bound and gagged daughter's head.
Mario yells as Henrique to let her go. Henrique tells him that he'll either have to come clean and give him all of the money and drugs he has, or kill him. Mario tells Henrique that he didn't take any of his money, and also what a "sick f*ck" he is for doing something like this to his own daughter, and Henrique replies, "You think I don't care about her? If I kill her, I'm doing it for her own f*cking good. So she doesn't leave me again and go back to Vinewood and try to become an actress again! So she doens't have to be with pricks like you and get killed!" Mario then tells him, "You just don't get what you're saying, do you?" Mario now takes aim at Henrique, who yells out insults at him. Mario carefully aims, pulls the trigger, and both Henrique and Stacy fall to the ground. Mario rushes over to find Henrique with a bullet hole in his face (and his blood and brains all over the wall and floor), and Stacy alive, but shaken. He unties Stacy, who kisses Mario and tells him "Thank you for freeing me of him."
Once the mansion is cleaned and repaired by Mario, him, Rafael, and Umberto now run the mansion, and begin the Bicheno Crime Syndicate after Henrique's old crime family falls apart and disappears after he died. They soon hire other trustworthy criminals to be a part of the syndicate and do all of the dirty work while Mario, Rafael, and Umberto do all of the main business. Juan-Carlos Condela soon calls to congratulate Mario about finally becoming successful, and gives him some tips on how to be even more successful. Juan says that both buying "clean" businesses and doing a bit of Empire Building with the "dirty" businesses are the keys, and that Mario has both the power and money to do so.
After setting up a few businesses, Mario begins to rake in tons of cash, but soon gets a call from Pablo. Mario tells Pablo, "See what happens when you f*ck with me you stupid prick? You thought you could get me killed by taking Henrique's money and saying I did it?" Pablo replies, "Honestly, I'm quite surprised, Mario. You've proven yourself to be quite the entrepreneur. However, I predict that your future is not going to be so bright. With that billion dollars of cash I took from Henrique, I was able to give a generous amount to the DEA and FIB, who, in return, turned over your old buddy, Al Lopez. We've already got some of his boys heading to your Vice Beach nightclub to crash the party. It seems like it's going to be a good night for a massacre. I'll bet that can't be too good for business!" Pablo hangs up, and Mario heads over to the Purple Emrald as quickly as he can. He tells the bodyguards outside that there is possibly going to be some armed men wanting to enter, and that they should tell the people in line that the club is closed for the night, and then get their guns out and have them ready. Meanwhile, Mario stakes out on a rooftop across the street, and sees three Patriots with armed men inside heading for the club. Mario calls the six guards outside that the
guys are heading down the street
