Present Progressive

subject+ am,is,are+verb+ing

Spelling Rules
1. We usually add ing to the verb.
2. If the verb ends with "e", we drop it and add ing.dance – dancing.
3. One syllable verbs which end with cvc, the last letter is doubled. (run-running)
* wxy – are never doubled. (blow- blowing, try- trying)
4. בפועל בן 2 הברות ויותר, מכפילים את האות האחרונה רק אם ההברה האחרונה מודגשת. (begin – beginning).
5. If the verb ends with "e" – the ie is changed to y. (die-dying, lie-lying).

Stative Verbs

ישנם פעלים שאינם נכתבים בהווה ממושך (Present Prog.)
אילה הם הפעלים הסטטיים. פעלים אילו מתייחסים ל- חושים, מחשבות, רגשות יחסי גומלין עמדות ומידות.
I hear a loud voice.
He wants his wallet now.
This house belongs to me.

Wh –quest. + am/is/are+ subject+ verb + ing?
Where are they staying at the moment?

Present Simple

Time Expressions: every day/week/month/year, twice a week/day/month… once a month/year/week…
Usually, sometimes, never, often, rarely, seldom, always

Be – am/is/are
משתמשים בפועל זה כאשר מתארים מצב. He is sick. They are busy people.

Spelling Rules He, She, It

כשפועל מסתיים ב- e או בעיצור מוסיפים s . (bark- barks, dance- dances)

כשפועל מסתיים ב- sh,ch,ss,x, o מוסיפים לפועל es. (watch- watches, dress – dresses, fix – fixes, go- goes)

כשפועל מסתיים ב- y משמיטים אותה ומוסיפים ies(study- studies)
** אם לפני ה- y יש vowel, לא משמיטים אותה אלא מוסיפים s. (pray- prays).

Negative Form

Subject + don't + v1(I, you, we, they)
They don't study French every day.

Subject + doesn't+ v1 (He,She,It).
She doesn't drink cola.

Do+ subject+ v1?

Does he live here?

Wh-questions

Wh + do/does + subject + v1?
